Local beaches
Aberporth
Aberporth Blue Flag has two beaches; Dyffryn to the west that has very soft sand and is sheltered, and Dolwen to the east that has coarser sand, boats are launched from here and dogs are allowed all year round. Both beaches have a number of rockpools exposed at low tide. There is a range of shops and food outlets in the village and parking is available adjacent to the beach.
Tresaith
Tresaith Blue Flag beach has a soft sand, rocks and a spectacular waterfall to the east of the beach. A shop/cafe and public toilets are adjacent to the beach and there is an inn just a few yards up the hill from the beach. Tresaith has a dighy sailing club which holds an annual regatta. Disabled parking is available adjacent to the beach, but the main public car park is a ten minute walk away.
Mwnt
Mwnt beach is often referred to as Wales' hidden gem and has been hailed in the Daily Mail as one of Europe's top ten loveliest, hidden beaches. It is sheltered, there is a kiosk and public toilets and the sand is good for building sand castles. Dolphins, porpoises, seals & basking shark are sometimes seen from the beach. The mud cliff at the top of the beach is prone to slippage, so stay clear of its base.
Llangrannog
Llangrannog is a small fishing port with a sandy beach that is popular wih visitors and a second beach (Cilborth) that is accessible at low tide. The village has pubs, cafes and a shop and there are toilets and parking available adjacent to the beach. Carreg Bica, a rock stack to the east of the main beach, is said to be a tooth of a giant removed to relieve him of toothache.
Penbryn
Penbryn is a National Trust beach with almost a mile of beautiful sand. Parking is a ten minute walk away from the beach, but there is a superb cafe, The Plwmp Tart, at the car park that offers light meals and lovely cakes. As an alternative to walking down the road from the car park, there is a wonderful walk down a wooded valley alongside the Hoffnant stream.
Poppit Sands
Poppit sands is a popular beach with families. When the tide is low, there is an immense expanse of sand to spread out on, with sand dunes at the top of the beach, soft sand above the high tide mark, and firm sand where the tide has reached. There is a cafe at the adjacent car park that serves excellent cream teas, a variety of cakes and drinks.
